RICH x Coral & Hive:
‘Nwa’Ntlhohe’ (Pure Beauty) by Rich Mnisi is an exercise in sheer materiality. The rug is woven from locally sourced, hand-spun Karakul wool and mohair, using traditional techniques, by female artisans at collaborator studio Coral & Hive in Somerset West. The rug’s asymmetrical hourglass shape features organic forms in exuberant colours of flat-woven, tufted and shaggy fibres. One area erupts into a voluminous mound that edges the carpet out of the category of floor covering towards an installation to be experienced and interacted with.
RICH x Charles Haupt.
RICH x Charles Haupt:
Behind the scenes of our visit to Sculpture Casting Services foundry with Rich Mnisi, Charles Haupt and Trevor Potter where the bronze works for Mnisi’s solo, ‘Nyoka’, were cast. The designer collaborated with Haupt, an industrial designer by training, on the design of the ‘Vutlhari (Wisdom)’ chandelier, while Potter made the snake sculpture that formed part of the ‘Nyoka (Snake)’ console table.

RICH x Monkeybiz:
Behind the scenes film of the photo shoot with Rich Mnisi and Monkeybiz for RICH, a once-off magazine published by Southern Guild Gallery in cooperation with BMW South Africa. Rich collaborated with select artisans to realise his designs for ‘Nyoka’, his first solo exhibition of collectible furniture. Four female artisans from internationally renowned NGO Monkeybiz painstakingly beaded two panels for his console.
